How to Operate Legacy Park Movie Night Concessions

Legacy Park Movie Night usually takes place twice a year; once in the spring (around May 20th) and once in the fall (around September 16th). Pack 002 operates a concession stand during movie nights to raise money. There are usually between 200 and 300 people attending the movie night event.

Following are some notes with information about how its done and what needs to be brought or bought.

The movie is started just after dark, which is usually between 8:30 and 9:00 pm. Set up for the concession stand should begin by about 6:30 pm to get everything ready before dark, and to be able to begin selling before the movie starts.

Supplies To Bring:

  • Pack grill and gas tanks
  • extension cords
  • two canopies
  • two tables
  • lanterns
  • flashlights
  • popcorn machine with supplies
  • Pack 002 concessions banner from storage
  • two Pack coolers from storage
  • foil squares from storage
  • gloves and grill implements from storage
  • food tins
  • cash box with starting cash from Treasurer

Inventory To Sell:

  • glow bracelets
  • Chips (two variety cases of 40 or so each)
  • Twizzlers (a case of 36 or so)
  • Skittles (a case of 36 or so)
  • Grandma's Cookies (a case of 20 or so packages of any brand individually wrapped cookies)
  • Coke (48), Diet Coke (48), Sprite (36), Capri Suns (40), water bottles (30)
  • Hot dogs - 60
  • Hamburgers - 120
  • Buns (enough for the hot dogs and hamburgers)
  • Cheese for burgers (100 slices or so)
  • ketchup, mustard, relish (3 big containers of ketchup, 2 big containers of mustard, 2 big containers of relish)
  • ice (this will need to purchased at the last minute, or frozen until we need it)

Manpower/Volunteer Needs

Need 3 or 4 setup volunteers; 2 cooks; 3 adults to serve as food wrappers and cashiers; and 3 or 4 breakdown volunteers.

It is very important to have at least 2 of the foil trays full of cooked hot dogs and burgers and a large amount of popcorn popped and bagged early in the evening, to avoid having a long line waiting for food to be cooked. The foil sheets keep the food hot until it is served.
